Sutopo was born in Rembang, Central Java, on 21 April 1952.

In 1974 he studied Arts in ASRI Yogyakarta.

People admired his works as the paintings feature the harmonious fusion between mountains and water, which was a prevalent philosophy for people from the East.

He has taken part in many Art Expositions in Jakarta, Bandung, Yogyakarta, Surabaya, Bali & Bangkok (Thailand).
